Cramlington Ambulatory Care Centre

This offsite construction project was for a new wing at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington. The 6,500m2 three-storey building accommodates one of the UK’s first purpose-designed Ambulatory Care units, with the other two floors fitted out in the next phase of the development.

Alongside McAvoys, Dowds Building Services were appointed to provide M&E design management and 3D Revit support for the project in addition to the full MEP supply and installation. This was the first offsite healthcare project of this size where ductwork and pipe systems were installed in the factory environment.

This took significant coordination between Dowds, the modular contractor and the M&E designer (DSSR) to ensure the M&E services fitted into the space available, that services were designed and installed to allow the modules to be shipped, and then for the onsite element to be carried out efficiently.
