North Wing Extension, Altnagelvin Hospital

Dowds Group have recently completed a successful £12.8M M&E package for the North Wing Extension of Altnagelvin Hospital.

The latest extension contains three floors of single bed wards with Phase 2 completing the delivery of 144 single bed wards along with M&E infrastructure and services. Mechanical Plant rooms are fed from existing Steam Main complete with Plate Heat Exchangers for Low Temperature Hot Water and Domestic Hot Water. All rooms are mechanically ventilated by Air Handling Units in Level 3 Plant Rooms complete with BMS controls.

Electrical services are supplied from the existing site’s 11kv infrastructure complete with two 1MVA transformers, 1.2MVA back up Generator, LV Distribution, Fire Alarms, Security, CCTV, BMS, and Smoke Damper Systems all integrating with the existing systems.

Another fantastic project completed in partnership with Farrans Construction, following an early handover of 70+ beds in Altnagelvin North Block in April 2020 to help with the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
