Good progress is being made at Queen Elizabeth Hospital where we have been appointed by McLaren to deliver the MEP package on the £30 Million Sitewide Infrastructure Project.
We are well progressed on the installation of the new electrical distribution where we have installed a new HV ring around the hospital along with a HV switch panel to supply two new packaged substations. The substations are sized to accommodate the entire load of the site so to provide the hospital with the necessary resilience to bring it up to current HTM standards. We have installed 3No 1.5MW containerised generators installed on structural bulk fuel tanks to provide back up in the event of a HV failure. From the packaged substations, installation is well progressed, and we recently energised the A & B 3200A cast resin busbars up to new switch rooms around the hospital and phase 1 is now complete. Phase 2 is now underway where the existing supplies around the hospital will be transferred to the new distribution system.
Mechanically we are upgrading the medical gas through the hospital with a new VIE compound to provide additional resilience for the hospital. Bed head trunking is also being upgraded throughout all Wards as well with additional gas terminals being installed to accommodate more beds. We are making good progress on the ventilation upgrades throughout the hospital with 7 out of 9 new AHU’s installed to date along with 9 refurbished AHU’s complete. New ventilation systems are being installed in Women’s Services and the Theatre Department with the Delivery Suite 80% complete and the first 2 operating theatre upgrades are complete.
