SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR - NI/LONDON



Summary:


Also referred to within the industry as a Cost Consultant or Commercial Manager, the role of an M&E Quantity Surveyor is to monitor and be involved in the management of project finances and contractual relationships. They ensure that the financial position of Dowds Group M&E projects are accurately reported and controlled effectively. They manage the contractual relationships between the various parties involved in any particular project and require a high level of commercial and contractual awareness. The role will be based in NI or London.


The Role:


  • Preparation, submission and agreement of Interim Applications and Final Accounts.
  • Submission and agreement of Variations, Dayworks etc. with the Main Contractor/Client.
  • Sub-Contractor Interim Payments including site measure, Payment Notices, Pay Less Notices and Final Accounts.
  • Liaising with Contract Managers in the procurement of Sub-Contract packages of work and preparation of Sub-Contract documents.
  • Support in monitoring the progress of the Works.
  • The preparation and issuing of contractual notices and/or correspondence to Clients, Dowds Suppliers and Sub-Contractors.
  • Preparation of cash flows, monthly cost reports and analysis of budgets.
  • Preparation of the monthly Commercial Reviews and presentation at the Project Review meetings.
  • Review of contract documents.


Person Specification:


  • An industry applicable ONC/HNC/BSc equivalent
  • At least 8 years’ experience in the construction industry
  • Mechanical & Electrical experience would be ideal but not essential
  • A good level of competency of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel
  • Self-motivation, passion and a driven ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Excellent communication
  • A high level of diplomacy and customer focus
  • The ability to anticipate problems and ensure early intervention.
  • Ability to handle multiple clients, forms of contract and methods of measurement.
  • Flexibility - ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to cope in high pressure situations.
