Summary:
We are currently seeking an Electrician to join our busy Facilities Management team based on a fixed site in the Belfast area. The role will include conducting maintenance, fault-finding and diagnostics on existing systems, install new electrical systems, including lighting and heating, to customer standards and to maintain those systems while upholding safety guidelines and complying with codes and regulations.
The Role:
- To work without supervision in the most efficient and economical manner. Work alone to find and present faults and concerns without explicit direction.
- Keep Health and Safety as a number one priority: challenging any unsafe actions on site and highlighting any main contractor issues.
- Use appropriate plant and tools while adhering to the five-point PPE.
- Monitoring material levels as you go and showing a general concern for material levels with safe, clean, and dry storage. If necessary, ensure deliveries are checked and sign off correctly.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Have technical ability to carry out all electrical installations and maintenance work to the Dowds Group standards of quality and in line with our quality systems.
- Have the confidence to make decisions on site, ability and willingness to mentor, train and develop other operatives and apprentices.
- Have a good general knowledge of all electrical systems, show interest, and take into consideration all sub-contractor’s installations.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
- Provide professional assessments and advice for customers.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the NICEIC requirements.
- Ensure a collaborative approach to working with other Dowds teams including other Business Units, Commercial teams, and Support Services (Accounts, Purchasing, BIM, IT, HR, Comms and SHEQ)

The candidate will be self-motivated, with strong team working attributes, have the ability to analyse a problem and develop a solution and manage the works to resolve any issues quickly and efficiently, a dynamic professional approach and high self-conduct standards will be expected at all times.
